REHABILITATION OF THE WESTERN VENETIAN
MONUMENTS AT HERACLEION PORT

Architectural
Competition

Τhe proposal is complementary to the remaining arsenals by means of a transparent shelter, on the trace of the once covered area. The geometry of the new structure refers to the forces applied on the domes. The gutters, keel-like, serve as beams and emphasize the main axis of the arsenals. The grid
of the columns reminds the position of the old. Concrete walls on the ground level support wooden platforms reminiscent of floating boats in the shipyard. Below, the space serves for exhibitions. Above, there is a canteen, a multi-purpose space  and an enclosed hall. The adjacent old storage room, hosts an Information office.
