VOCATIONAL TECHNICAL
COLLEGE AT KALAMBAKA

1st prize
in architectural
competition

An architectural competition for a college for direct vocational training within the framework of an urban landscape in the process of being gradually shaped.
In the design, a crucial role is played by the layout of the boundaries between public, semi-public and private space.
If certain rules were to be sought in the composition of the individual masses, the first would perhaps be that of legibility. The easy reading of the individual functional units aids familiarisation with the building complex and smooth operation.
The multiple breaking down of the individual functional units gives rise to the need for a unifying gesture. This is provided by the large roofs projecting on cornices, which, apart from regulating the behaviour of the building in terms of energy, project the public character of the work.
