THE MUNICIPAL THEATRE OF CORFU

2nd prize
in the
Panhellenic
Architectural
Competition

This competition brought us in front of a historical place with two large scale public buildings, representative of their building period architecture and an embarassed square in between.

The architectural intervention:
- re-defines the public space, not with floor patterns, but through the intensity of the vertical dimension, which converts these public buildings into major landmarks.
- re-determines the square of the Municipal Theatre by providing various qualities, able to erase every hint of guilt and obsessive nostalgy for this part of the old the city which is irrevocably lost, and proposes a new landmark in place of the old theater.
